What would a spiritual teacher be without her self-help books?
I adore them.
As a raging minimalist, I donated 85% of my books back in the Marie Kondo days, but I have my one shelf of divine and cherished books that I will never get rid off.
They are my fuel. My ticket to go back to the world of truth, higher consciousness and re-tapping, refreshing and everything "re" when it comes to getting myself back in the juicy, flowing and natural state of being.
I have been asked many times what my favourite self-help books are, so I thought I'd finally share my treasure trove of goodies with you.
Enjoy xx
1. Ask and It Is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hick (the teachings of Abraham) * * * * *This book was one of the first self-help books I remember buying when I was 21 years old. I remember being physically drawn to this book in this adorable bookstore in downtown LA. I can admit that much of the teachings of that book went way over my head at the time, but over the years I have picked up this book time and time again and it's sunk so deep, it cracked me open for sure. LOVE IT
2. Ayurveda and the Mind, by Dr. David Frawley * * * * *
Holy mother of pearl this book is a MUST if you want to learn the principles and spiritual truth-bombs of Ayurveda and consciousness. It goes beyond Ayurveda if that's even a thing? It's the essence of why we are here. It breaks down how Ayurveda is integral to all aspects of our lives, the balance and qualities that reside within us and all the cosmos. It can be tricky to understand if you're not all over Ayurveda like a rash, but it's a great book to refer back to you.
3. Conversations with God, by Neale Donald Walsch * * * * *
I have to say, it took me years to come to this book, I knew it was around from the spiritual circles but the title really put me off. I have negative connotations with the word 'god' and I presumed this book was religious-intertwined so I wanted nothing to do with it. But I was so pleasantly surprised that this book goes beyond the confines of man-made religion and unmasks the deeper meaning of our existence. This book BLEW MY MIND and really was the gatekeeper to my spiritual awakening I'd have to say.
4. Dying to be Me, by Anita Moorjani * * * * *
This book is about this incredible woman who was absolutely riddled with cancer and had an incredible NDE (Near Death Experience) where she went into consciousness and explains in detail the beauty, the supreme peace and bliss in this alternate reality and found that this is where we are before birth and where we go after death and when she arose from her coma, her whole body cured itself after only a couple of days. Absolute miracle. This book paved the way for my understanding of what we are really tapped into and why there really is no need for fear of death as it's not real. We are limitless.
5. Leap of Perception, by Penney Pierce * * * * *
I don't know why Penney Pierce isn't up there with the big players like Louise Hay and Dr. Wayne Dyer because her teachings and books are mind-blowing. Her matter of fact, easy to read and style of writing is a pleasure to read and her insights and intuition are on point.
This book and her others are both re-reads that I regularly come back to as refreshers.
6. The Achievement Trap, by Brandilyn Tebo * * * * *
What a mega-superstar Brandilyn is. I was lucky enough to connect with her and chat all things ERMERRZING on my youtube channel. You can check that video out here
She is such a natural writer and it was an absolute pleasure to read. Honestly, this book is a MUST READ. Cannot say enough good words about it. I will be continue to re-read this book.
7. The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle * * * * *
What's a self-help list without this book eh? If you haven't heard of this book, you may be living under in a lovely cave. Because this book is a global affair and there is a reason for that, as it's beautiful. It simplifies life down to a T and unmasks all our dramas, pain-emotional bodies and puts everything into perspective. It takes us back to all that we have, which is. this. present. moment. It's the refreshing shower that's always needed. So much joy here.
8. Judgement Detox, by Gabrielle Bernstein * * * * * *
I'm a huge fan of Gabrielle's work as a new age spiritual leader. Gabby breaks down the mind-games we play in our own world and helps us to understand the reasons for why we judge in the first place and it's ALL about coming back to our truth, our fundamental love for ourselves, the divine (source / consciousness / what we are) and she references A Course In Miracles, which is a student of. I personally find ACIM too 'religiousy' for me, but the nuts and bolts of it are incredible - otherwise, that book would've been in my top ten.
9. This Naked Mind, by Annie Grace * * * * *
If you are struggling to quit alcohol, this book is the ticket. Legit was the catalyst to me quitting alcohol for good. Absolutely BRILLIANT. No AA is needed when you have this book, honestly, it was such a wise, matter-of-fact and honest read. I love that Annie references many scientific-based studies and does her research. I drank a few wines over Christmas while away in Brisbane, so I'm in need of picking up this book again ha!
10. Excuses Begone!, by Dr. Wayne Dyer
Look, any book of the beautiful Wayne Dyer's is brilliant, but I loved this book and it's stayed in my collection. It's a habit and game-changer. If you're in need of breaking the links to limiting thoughts and becoming proactive with your life, this book is superb for that.
